In 1997, Carol and her husband, Ken Parker, moved to Laguna Beach and started their family. With a B.B.A. in Management from Texas A&M, she started her own executive search business, staffing companies such as Universal, McKinsey and Fox. She soon met Dr. Joanne Culverhouse and others who enlisted Carol to become involved with the schools.
Carol and Ken now have three children, ages 10, 12 and 14, and a dog, age 5. Their children currently attend school at Top of the World, Thurston and OCSA. In 2005, when her oldest child enrolled in kindergarten at Top of the World, Carol began fundraising for the Laguna Beach Unified School District. Since then, she has helped raise millions of dollars for the district chairing the annual Community Campaign arm of SchoolPower.
In addition, Carol volunteered on the Development Board of the Laguna Beach Community Foundation, which grants money to local non-profit organizations. She also has volunteered her time at the Friendship Shelter.
Carol’s passion for education and our community motivated her to run for the school board. Through her fundraising efforts, classroom volunteering and simply being a parent of children in Laguna’s schools, Carol is knowledgeable about the issues that matter most to parents, teachers, administrators and taxpayers. Her years of business experience, community involvement and strong belief in volunteerism make her a perfect choice for the open seat on Laguna Beach’s school board.
